Who we are

This website (mariaislandnationalpark.com.au) is an independent unofficial visitor guide. We do not publish a public contact email or contact form. See our contact page for official park and ferry channels and site expectations.

What we collect

This site does not run a third-party contact form, email-gated lead form, or public mailbox. We do not intentionally collect personal contact details through this website. There is no visitor account system and we do not run a mailing list.

The free practical planner and day-trip checklist (PDF and HTML) are direct downloads — no email is required to access them. On-site search runs in your browser against a local page index; we do not receive your search queries.

Server, fonts, maps, weather & local storage

Standard web server logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, time) may be collected by the hosting provider (typically a commercial Australian web host) for security and operations. We do not currently run a named first-party analytics product on this site. If that changes, this page will say so.

Page fonts are loaded from Google Fonts (Plus Jakarta Sans), which is a Google service and may set its own cookies or logs under Google’s policies. Colour-scheme preference is stored in your browser as localStorage key minpark-theme. That is not a tracking cookie and is not sent to us.

Orientation maps use a public Google Maps embed (no site API key). The visit-page weather strip calls the Open-Meteo forecast API from your browser. Those third parties receive the request needed to render the map or forecast; they are not official Parks Tasmania or Bureau of Meteorology products.

Cookies, advertising & affiliates

A Google AdSense publisher ID is configured. Ads may display when units are approved and labelled where required. AdSense and similar networks set cookies and collect usage data per Google’s privacy policy, advertising technologies and Ads Settings. Authorised sellers are listed in ads.txt at the site root.

Affiliate partners (Amazon Associates, Booking.com via Commission Junction, and GetYourGuide) may also set cookies when you follow outbound stay, tour or gear links. See our affiliate disclosure.

You can control cookies via your browser settings and any industry opt-out tools offered by ad networks. Blocking cookies may affect ads or third-party features; core guide content remains readable. We do not operate a cookie-consent banner because we do not run a first-party analytics or account cookie of our own.

Overseas processing

Some partners — including Google, Amazon, Booking.com, GetYourGuide and Open-Meteo — may process data outside Australia. Their privacy policies apply to those services. By using this site you acknowledge this handling where reasonably necessary for site operation and monetisation.

Your rights

Australian privacy law (including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, where they apply) may give you rights regarding personal information an organisation holds. This unofficial guide does not operate a public inbox or account system, so routine browsing typically does not create a customer profile on this site. For AdSense, Maps, fonts and affiliate partners, use those providers’ own privacy tools and browser cookie controls.

We do not sell email addresses. We do not hold a visitor mailing list from this domain.

Contact

Privacy policy context and official park routing: contact page (no public email). For official Parks Tasmania personal-data matters, use Parks Tasmania channels — not this unofficial guide. For Encounter Maria Island bookings and tickets, use encountermaria.com.au.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
